I have skin cancer… and now what do I do?

When you’re diagnosed with skin cancer, it’s totally understandable to feel scared.

My role is to help you in the evaluation of your injury, and guide you when deciding which is the most appropriate treatment for you.

you ask yourself…

Which medical specialist should I go to?

Is it an aggressive cancer and could it spread into other organs?

How could it be treated? What is the best treatment for me?

These questions, among others, are some of the most frequently ones asked by patients diagnosed with skin cancer and come to me asking for information and advice.

We have to take into account that each patient is unique and presents specific health characteristics. If we select the best treatment option for each situation, the cure rates are very high.

That’s why I’ll help you choose the most appropriate treatment for you

Mohs surgery

Mohs micrographic surgery (MMS) is presented as a specific surgical technique for the treatment of certain types of skin cancer, mostly basal cell carcinoma, which allows a cure rate very close to 100%.

Conventional surgery

it represents a valid option (and sometimes it is the best alternative) in the case of the removal of tumors located in the trunk and extremities (also sometimes on the face) and in certain tumor types.

Photodynamic Therapy

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a noninvasive treatment modality used primarily for the selective elimination of certain types of superficial skin cancers.

Topical treatment

It consists of the topical application (on the skin surface) of certain chemotherapeutic drugs.   It is an effective and well tolerated treatment with good cosmetic results.

Systemic treatment with orally administered drugs

It is a therapeutic option for the treatment of advanced tumours or patients with multiple tumours on their skin.          Sometimes it represents the best treatment to shrink the tumor, with a response rate of around 70%.

I am dr.
Verónica Ruiz

Verónica Ruiz dermatóloga en Barcelona

Initially, I specialized in Urology and this made me discover my interest for surgeries and acquire relevant information on surgical practice, but soon, I decided to redirect my professional career towards medical surgical dermatology.

This step I took, allowed me to immerse myself in the activity that I have been carrying out with enthusiasm for years: dermatological surgery.

My philosophy is based on working on my own professional and personal evolution to improve, be useful and apply the best of me in my surroundings and my patients.  In dermatological surgery, the opportunity to be able to create in every intervention is linked to the patients benefit and is a reason for great personal satisfaction.

I have undertaken this project to help and continue my learning process

And i also provide
other dermathology services
